Greenways Program Advisory Committee Workgroups

Men on BridgeWork Groups

The Committee recently established two special workgroups on Economic Benefits and Conservation Greenways. For an update on Committee and Work Group activities along with current greenway news, review these meeting reports!

Economic Benefits Work Group

Co-facilitators: Jerry Walls and Linda Boxx

Members: Anna Breinich, Ken Edmonds, Dan Accurti, Matt Beaver, Bill Mineo, Kurt Zwikl, Jane Sheffield, Pat Tomes

Objective(s):

  • Review existing study methodologies, including user survey instruments, looking at existing work (e.g. York, GAP, Virginia trails) and provide input to DCNR on appropriate methodology to use for additional trail corridor economic benefits/user impact studies.
  • Consider and provide recommendation on including adjacent property value analysis to study goals.
  • Provide input to DCNR on which 3-6 additional trail corridors should be studied considering geographic distribution across state.

Conservation Greenways Work Group

Co-facilitators: Andy Pitz and Renee Carey

Members: Brian Auman, Dan Zimmerman, Jim Domen, Christine Laytos, Dave Lang

Objective(s):

  • Provide input to DCNR on the definition of a conservation-based greenway corridor. What distinguishes this kind of greenway corridor from other, what are specific characteristics (e.g. corridor width, location, size, etc.).
  • Develop more specific guidance on how to identify and include conservation greenway corridors within County Greenway and Open Space Network Planning Program.
