Pennsylvania’s Major Greenway Corridors

A major goal of the PA Greenways Program is to identify and map “Major” Greenway Corridors as the backbone of a statewide network.

Click here to download the map!Major Corridors are long-distance corridors (at least 50 miles long) that pass through two or more counties and are recognized in official planning documents by counties. They represent the major “arteries” of the developing statewide greenway system. Counties will recognize these Major Corridors in their greenway plans, and will develop plans that link their greenways networks to the larger statewide network. The result: an interconnected statewide greenways system.

The Department of Conservation and Natural Resources (DCNR) prepared a statewide map showing Major Greenway Corridors, including PA Water Trails. Some are in place and others are under development. The map also shows some proposed major corridors that are under study. Future plans are to display major greenways within the counties, based on county greenway plans. Contact DCNR for a copy of the map shown here.
