Pennsylvania Department of Agriculture (PDA)
Web Site: http://www.pda.state.pa.us Pennsylvania's farmland protection program is designed to protect the agricultural economy of a community by protecting agricultural land from development. This program presents one opportunity to greenway developers, who often piece together a number of different local, state, and even federal programs to protect greenway lands. The issue of incorporating public access into protected farmlands, however, is a sensitive one. There are models for providing public rights-of-way along agricultural lands, especially across land that is not ordinarily tilled or along parcel boundaries, but most farmland in greenways does not provide public access. Opportunities for establishing conservation greenways with or without public access in collaboration will be sought. Secretary's Greenway Program Advisory Committee Representative: Mary Bender
